A little history

Zoombis is a division of the HONBLUE family of companies. For years HONBLUE and Electric Pencil customers utilized the E-print department for short run, high quality printing. This was the beginning of digital printing at HONBLUE. But short-run printing didn't fully utilize the capabilities of this new printing technology that enables every printing impression to be unique. One-to-one marketing and variable data printing was still in its infancy; the technology was ready but the market was still catching up.


E-print gets strategic

Enter Boomerang Hawaii. Recognizing that one of the barriers to wider adoption of print-on-demand and variable data printing was the interconnectedness of printing to marketing and other business processes. As a result, Boomerang Hawaii started to evangelize a new way of looking at printing; not as an afterthought but as a strategic business decision.

Following this more strategic approach, Boomerang Hawaii quickly realized that broadening our mix of services was necessary in order to provide compelling solutions. We added expertise in email marketing, web programming, and marketing to round out our strong printing background.


The Letter

With some successful campaigns under our belt (and a few that were learning experiences) we were started to get some national recognition for our accomplishments. Then we got a letter from a company in the mainland with a similar mix of services… named www.boomerang.com.

We never thought we'd have a problem using the Boomerang Hawaii name since we are 3,000 miles away in the middle of the Pacific. We were wrong. We can only assume that www.boomerang.com asked us to change our name so the "choke" phone calls for Boomerang Hawaii will stop!

As a result, we rebranded the division as Zoombis. Zoom as in "to move quickly" and bis meaning to "repeat"; two core aspects of our direct mail and print-on-demand programs.

Building on the accomplishments of Boomerang Hawaii, Zoombis will further extend our services to help businesses realize the efficiencies and measurable ROI of Technology Driven Direct Marketing.
